opening prayer

Welcome in the name of Christ.

We come to God as one from whom no

secrets are hidden,

To ask for his forgiveness and peace.

Most merciful God,

Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

We confess that we have sinned

In though, word and deed.

We have not loved you with our whole heart.

We have not loved our neighbours as

In your mercy

Forgive what we have been,

Help us to amend what we are,

And direct what we shall be;

That we may do justly,

Love mercy,

And walk humbly with you, our God.

matthew 28:16-20

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’

This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Romans 10:1-15

Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

Moses writes this about the righteousness that is by the law: ‘The person who does these things will live by them.’ But the righteousness that is by faith says: ‘Do not say in your heart, “Who will ascend into heaven?”’b(that is, to bring Christ down) ‘or “Who will descend into the deep?”’c (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? ‘The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,’dthat is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: if you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, ‘Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.’e 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile – the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’g

This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

• Have you experienced the Holy Spirit sending you to someone or to somewhere?

• What does the new creation look like for you? Where have you experienced freedom, healing or hope in your life?

• Have you hesitated? What made you afraid or unsure? How would you like to grow in confidence?

Music for reflection

God my Father, God my Father, show your power in our lives

Jesus, loving Saviour, you gave your life to show you love us

Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit, surround us and fill our hearts.

When Jen says, Lord, hear us:

Please respond: Lord, graciously hear us

As our Saviour taught us, so we pray:

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation

but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power,

and the glory are yours

now and for ever.

St Mary’s has a vision to be a centre for Arts, Prayer and Transformation in Walthamstow. We want to continue to be this in these radically different days. If you are able to donate to us and support the ongoing work of the church, please give by following the link.

I would you like to come St Mary's Open House and discover the stories of the church and churchyard

Keep us, Father, in this community of faith,

The Church of your Son Jesus Christ,

And help us to confess him as Messiah and Lord

In all we say and do.

We ask this in his name.

We GO into the world

To walk in God’s light,

To rejoice in God’s love

And to reflect God’s glory.

Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.

In the name of Christ. Amen.
